Brunel Museum & Thames Tunnel
Tunnel Engineering in England, dating from the Post-Medieval
The Thames Tunnel (1843) was the first tunnel successfully constructed beneath a navigable river. Engineered by Marc Isambard Brunel and his son Isambard Kingdom Brunel, it was a marvel of 19th-century engineering. Now used by the London Overground, the museum is in the original engine house.
