Snibston Colliery
Coal Mine in England, dating from the Post-Medieval
A former coal mine in Coalville, Leicestershire, sunk in 1831 by engineers Robert and George Stephenson (of railway fame). The preserved headstocks and engine house stand as monuments to the Leicestershire coalfield. The colliery operated for over 150 years until closure in 1983.
