SS Great Britain
Shipbuilding in England, dating from the Post-Medieval
Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and launched in 1843, the SS Great Britain was the first iron steamer to cross the Atlantic. She revolutionised shipbuilding and naval engineering. Now permanently dry-docked in Bristol as a museum ship in the very dock where she was built.
