Rock Art, ARDURA BEG
Cupmarked stone in Ireland, dating from the Bronze Age
On the flat top of a V-shaped spine of rock outcrop, which is largely obscured by a dense growth of gorse and briars, on a SW-facing pasture slope. At least nine cupmarks (diam. 0.03-0.1m; D 0.01-0.02m) occur intermittently along a 6m stretch of rock. The dense cover of gorse makes it difficult to examine the entire rock, which could possibly contain further cupmarks. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
