This 350-ton British transport ship was built in 1784. She was en route from Ramsgate to Cork with 5 companies of the 2nd or 59th regiment and soldiers’ wives and children (394 in total). She was in convoy with the Boadicea and Lord Melville, which were wrecked near Kinsale. The troops had recently returned from the Napoleonic Wars.
