Tinghaugen ved Arendal i Agder bærer et stedsnavn som indikerer at dette var en tingplass for det lokale bygdetinget. Agder tilhørte Gulatingets lovområde i den eldste perioden, men ble senere lagt under Borgartinget. Tinghauger ved kysten fungerte som samlingssted for bønder og fiskere i rettssaker.
