Rispebjerg is a remarkable archaeological site 7 km west of Snogebæk, containing both a Neolithic sun temple (c. 3500-3300 BC) and Bornholm's largest Iron Age fortifications. The inner stronghold is protected by 15-metre steep slopes and 3-metre high semicircular ramparts fronted by a 2-metre deep dry moat. An outer earthwork wall 200 metres to the southeast provided additional defence. The site spans several thousand years of human occupation, from ritual Neolithic enclosures to an Iron Age refuge fortress.
