The southern section of Hærvejen in Silkeborg Kommune runs from the Bølling Sø area southward, following the ancient route along the Jutland ridge. This stretch preserves traces of the prehistoric and medieval travel route that connected Denmark's northern regions with Germany, used for pilgrimages, trade, and cattle drives. The surrounding landscape of heath and plantation retains elements of the historic open terrain through which the route originally passed.
