Kulturmiljø in Denmark

Vesterlund is one of Denmark's earliest summer house areas, subdivided for vacation homes as early as the 1920s near Silkeborg. The property was acquired in 1917 by lawyer Poul Carl Aage Madsen, and the Vesterlund Grundejer-, Jagt- og Fiskeriforening was founded on 4 September 1917 to purchase the land collectively. The association became financially independent in 1939, and the area is now designated as a preservation-worthy kulturmiljø for its significance as a pioneering summer house community.
