Klosterlund Museum is located in Stenholt Forest near Bølling Lake west of Silkeborg, on a site of major archaeological significance from the Stone Age. The museum houses finds from the Klosterlund culture, an early phase of the Maglemose culture, documenting how the first reindeer hunters appeared by the lake after the ice age ended 11,500 years ago. The area around Bølling Lake was a "hot spot" for Stone Age hunter-gatherers who lived in small migratory groups.
