Stendal Plantage

Stendal Plantage is part of "Alhedens Kongelige Skov" (Alheden's Royal Forest), established by royal decree between 1788 and 1829 on the former heathland west of Hærvejen. The plantation contains impressive rows of prehistoric burial mounds from the Single Grave Culture (2800-2400 BCE) and possibly the Bronze Age, originally visible across the open heath but now largely hidden by tree growth. Together with Havredal and Ulvedal Plantage, the area covers almost 850 hectares.
