Drewsensvej is a central street in Silkeborg, named in 1890 after Michael Drewsen, who is often called the founder of Silkeborg. Drewsen and his family established Silkeborg Papirfabrik in 1844, choosing the location for the Gudenå River's water power; the first sheet of paper was produced on New Year's Day 1845, and the factory became Denmark's largest paper industrial complex. The street and surrounding area represent the industrial origins of Silkeborg.
