Sølyst refers to the villa quarter along Sølystvej in the Alderslyst district, on the southern shore of Silkeborg Langsø, where a series of fine villas were built after 1910 by residents moving from Silkeborg town to what was then the "tax haven" Alderslyst in Balle parish. The area contains at least 6 officially designated preservation-worthy buildings (SAVE 1-3), with up to 16 properties of conservation value. The kulturmiljø documents early 20th-century suburban expansion and lakeside villa culture.
