Er en ældgammel kundskab, der går tilbage til Mesopotamien for ca. 5000 år siden. Teglbrænding kom til Danmark i 1100-tallet, og metoden forblev uændret intil 1700-tallet, hvor de første egentlige teglværke opstod.
