Etableringen af banen mellem Herning og Holstebro får afgørende betydning for byen Aulums udvikling.Stationen fra 1904 -1905 blev i mange år fremover arbejdsplads for en del af byens borgere, og omkring stationen udvides byen sig til alle sider.
