Dyrby is a very old Danish village north of Randers that according to Danske Atlas (1768) was a church village in the Catholic period before 1527, though the church had already disappeared by 1575. The oldest map of the village dates from 1816, and it historically had a school (functioning until 1943), a central store (until 1960), a blacksmith, carpentry business, and bakery. The village is also associated with the natural area Dyrby Krat and the Natura 2000-designated Kastbjerg Ådal.
