Strømmen is the short road and district south of the harbour that connects Randers with the suburbs of Kristrup to the east and Vorup to the west. In the late 1800s it developed as a suburban area south of Randersbro, promoted by the establishment of the Grenå railway line, and became a zone of heavy industry that has now largely disappeared. The area preserves traces of its industrial past and represents Randers' 19th-century urban expansion.
