This kulturmiljø on the Røsnæs peninsula encompasses historic grazing commons (overdrev) consisting of heathland and meadow areas bordered by Sejrø Bay to the north and Kalundborg Fjord to the south. The overdrev areas are maintained through grazing supplemented with periodic scrub clearance, a land-use practice with deep historical roots. Røsnæsgården was historically named Hestehavegård because the area was used for grazing horses and young cattle from Kalundborg Castle's farm.
