This kulturmiljø encompasses the overdrev hills associated with the old Ars Herred, the historic administrative district that covered the westernmost part of the former Holbæk Amt. Ars Herred stretched from Sejrøbugten in the north to Halleby Å in the south and included the Røsnæs and Asnæs peninsulas. The overdrev hills preserve traces of the historic common grazing lands that characterized the herred's agricultural landscape.
