Blaenavon Ironworks
Iron Foundry in Wales, dating from the Post-Medieval
Founded in 1789, Blaenavon was one of the most important ironworks in 19th-century Wales, producing iron and later steel on an enormous scale. The surrounding landscape of mines, quarries, and railways provides evidence of the area's pivotal role in the Industrial Revolution. UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.
