A cultural landscape in southwestern Bornholm with preserved Bronze Age burial mounds and rocks bearing cup marks (skåltegn). The burial mounds date from the Early Bronze Age (c. 1700-1100 BC), when the dead were interred in large mounds on prominent ridges near the coast. The cup marks are small round indentations (4-5 cm wide) found abundantly across Bornholm wherever Bronze Age people lived or farmed, and are believed to have had a ritual function, possibly linked to fertility.
