Langelandsgades Kaserne is a former military barracks built in 1889 in historicist red-brick style, designed as the Artillery Barracks (Artillerikasernen). During World War II, the barracks were confiscated by German forces, and on 31 October 1944, the nearby Gestapo headquarters was bombed by the RAF, severely damaging the barracks and killing twenty Germans. After the last military unit left in 1978, Aarhus University took over the restored buildings, which now house the School of Communication and Culture.
