Slagterigrunden is the former Aarhus Public Slaughterhouse area, encompassing historic buildings including the cattle market (Kvægtorvet), stables, an administration building, and Restaurant Kohalen. Beneath the asphalt, cobblestones and old railway tracks from the municipal slaughterhouse remain visible. Over four decades without formal development plans, artists and entrepreneurs turned the area into a creative cultural district, making it a significant example of organic urban reuse.
